CEP INNOVATION EXPLORATION
Compassion Hub
Exploring Self-Directed Compassion through the Clinical Entrepreneur Programme

What is Self-Directed Compassion
What is self-directed compassion?Self-directed compassion (SDC) is a guided internal practice that helps a person turn towards themselves with steadiness, care and honesty when overwhelm, pressure or emotional load are present. It supports a person to pause, notice what is happening inside them, and meet their own experience in a more compassionate way.The method may involve structured compassionate language, reflective prompts, grounding practices, guided audio, written exercises or digital tools. The deeper process is intentionally held with care, as this work is still in early-stage exploration and development. The exploration that Compassion Hub is undertaking invites people to reflect on whether compassionate self-engagement feels relevant to their own experience, their work, or the people they support — especially in moments where overwhelm, pressure or emotional load may affect clarity, choice, connection or the capacity to engage.

What this exploration is about
Compassion Hub is exploring how self-directed compassion may support people when overwhelm, pressure or emotional load are present. This work is currently at an early investigation stage through the Clinical Entrepreneur Programme.

Why this matters
When people are overwhelmed, under pressure or carrying emotional load, it can become harder to stay connected to themselves, make choices, ask for support or engage with what is needed. This exploration asks whether self-directed compassion can help create more inner space, steadiness and capacity to engage.

What I’m seeking
I am seeking conversations, feedback and possible connections with people who are interested in early-stage compassionate support, emotional regulation, workforce wellbeing, self-directed tools, lived experience, human-centred innovation or pilot exploration
